Preparation For Inclement Weather
Dear Families,
Per The National Weather Service, we are anticipating severe weather conditions that may require a
pivot to remote instruction.
If school buildings are closed, school will be in session remotely. Students in kindergarten and
above are expected to log on and participate in their classes from home; please note the
exceptions below.
EXCEPTION: Due to the professional development day, students that attend high schools and
schools that serve only grades 6-12 are not scheduled to attend school on January 26. School will
not be in session remotely for those students. All other students – including students who are in
grades 6-8 in K-8 or middle schools - are expected to participate in remote learning.
Work with your school to ensure your child has a working, internet-enabled device at home. If you
are not sure of your child’s NYCPS Account username and password, please visit
selfservice.schools.nyc or ask your school for help. Children attending LYFE or a 3K or Pre-K
program in an elementary school or Pre-K Center should participate in the remote learning
experiences outlined by their program. For information about digital learning tools, applications,
and platforms used by the New York City Department of Education, please visit
schools.nyc.gov/digitallearning.
Your school will stay in close communication with you regarding the upcoming inclement weather
predicted to affect New York City beginning January 25 and the potential shift to remote learning on
January 26. If you have any questions, please reach out to the principal or parent coordinator at
your child’s school.
Sincerely,
New York City Public School
